We had a busy Saturday. One of the many things we did was go to a town nearby that had a Historic Festival going on. It was very interesting, funny, strange, cute, weird, comical, and a blast all rolled into one.

Olivia met this lady and loved her dress. She wanted to get a closer look and touch it. :)

Isaac searched for treasure after taking the pirate oath of "Argh!"

Josiah was pirated.

Josiah was too busy with his yo-yo treasure to pose. Isaac was ready with his blue lips.

I couldn't understand what she was crying for. "Pop pop!" I finally figured out she was wanting a lollipop. I can't get used to it not being called a sucker.

The kids were listening to a pirate story told by a local librarian.

Jay was very excited to try out this pepper jelly. He bought some and I tried it out with him at home--gag! But to each his own. :)

Josiah is always tying something onto himself.

Isaac-The Piratey Coach Driver

Pirate Josiah really gets into it.

Olivia was given a train whistle at one booth. Her brothers coveted that whistle all day long.

Isaac went to the "general store" to get some candy.

She had to get in on the action.

Christopher and Olivia enjoyed some cookies on Santa's sleigh. (Yes, there was a sleigh pulled by reindeer right across from the horse drawn carriage.)

MaKayla and Josiah delivered presents to all the good little boy and girl pirates.

On Dasher, on Dancer...

They had a fashion show that the boys and I went to. The boys went in the room ahead of me and as I walked in, I heard the lady talking about corsets and how they "just didn't have bras back then." Then she went on to tell how to make your own hoops "if you're interested".
It was only fitting because just a few minutes before, we took a tour through the museum. The museum was more like an antique store. It's a very small place and we toured shoulder to shoulder. In other words, once you went in, there was no backing out. We walked into a room that was set up like an old bedroom. On the rocking chair, a corset was very nicely displayed. :) I walked past and turned around to see Isaac casually checking it out. I barely heard him say, "Hmm, that's a nice bra." He nodded his head as if he were a 50 year old man that just looked at a decent pair of penny loafers. What a kid.

That is hysterical!! Josiah really looks like he had carriage driving down! And look at Isaac's big teeth coming in. (And now he knows what a bra is...) Olivia looks perfectly contented--with something in her mouth all along the way. ha! What fun!!!
FUN FUN FUN! What an awesome day and look at Olivia, little Miss Lady! LOVE the pictures and I agree it does look like Josiah is an old pro at driving the carriage.
Oh funny! I love the lady in black and I would have been dying laughing with you! The bra story is classic and I can't believe all you have been up to. Kyle loves O's chubby legs with that tutu trick-or-treating. Great story about the plastic food too. Really made me think. Gosh we miss you guys!
Hilarious post Amy....looks like a totally fun day too. Where on earth do you all find out about events like this...what a trip! I love it! Thanks for sharing what you learned ... the mourning dress would also work well for any figure! Geeze - Can you imgaine?! I'd be laughing too.
That cracks me up! I Love that your favorite was the lady in mourning... that's seriously funny.
And Isaac saying that's a nice bra!? priceless!

What a fun day! The b&w is hysterical! Did you get tired of that whistle? I probably would have had to accidentally lost it before the day was over! (:
That looked like a ton of fun and very educational :) love the sepia pic at the end. Andrew was fascinated by the incredibles shirt...I guess the history part was lost on him!
Oh Isaac! At least he didn't try to try the "bra" on. I walked in my bedroom the other day, and Ryan was wearing mine and laughing his head off! We miss you!!!
