I love Christmas, I love Thanksgiving, I love my birthday, but I really love Happy Fun Day!!!
Happy Fun Day began back before Jay and I were even married. We spent a whole day together while we were dating and declared it was the perfect day. Back then the day consisted of buying ourselves things and eating whatever we wanted. Sounds happy and fun, right? Well, not much has really changed, we just have 3 kids who make it even more happy and fun. After the first Happy Fun Day, we decided it would continue on. So on the first weekend of every October, you should know that the Wright Family is having fun and we are happy.

Let the day begin.

Happy Fun Day to you.
Happy Fun Day to you.
Happy Fun Day to our family.
Happy Fun Day to you.

Everyone was singing our Happy Fun Day song when the tears began to pour. Josiah missed his family back in Texas.

Gum makes everything better in our house.
Peace, Isaac.

Josiah will resume playing as soon as he gets all 5 pieces of gum shoved into his mouth.

There is his gum wad.
(Note: Zach and Shanna, don't worry about washing off your baby's pacifier if it falls on the ground. Because if you have a child like Josiah -very likely- you will soon realize that one day they will throw their gum away in the miniature golf trash can, only to change their minds and pluck it back out of the trash and continue chewing.)

This photo session went downhill from here.

This is what our family looked like during most of this experience. There was a lot of, "Move or you are going to get hit." and "Josiah, are you kidding me?"

2 guesses...

Cici's Pizza

oh no

library

I love how proud Jay is in this picture. Olivia was pretty uncomfortable facing backwards in the swing.

"Hurry Mom! Take the picture!"

of course

Josiah got his first new bike (not a hand-me-down). He asked the salesman at the store if the chain would fall off. (His chain kept falling off of his old bike.)

Movie time

What? No peace sign?
Isaac, you rock my world. :)

Eek!

Olivia looks very determined to have the best Happy Fun Day EVER!!! I teared up a little seeing Josiah so sad, but had a little giggle playing the moment out in my head. Priceless! Isaac you are the coolest, high five buddy.
I wish Josiah could have seen the huge hunk of gum Zach had in his mouth tonight! Haha- we had some "It's A Boy!" gum cigars and he decided to chew the whole thing at once. Like Uncle, like nephew, I guess...
Just seeing if I got this thing to work--left my comment on fb for you.
Haha!! Thanks for the advice! I have a feeling you're right about having a kid like Josiah, and I really hope so!
And I agree with Lissa: Zach looked a little silly w/all that gum!
Well, Happy Fun Day 2010 looked like it was a success!! We miss you all!! Amy, hope your thumb is healing.
This is too cool! Looks like you guys had a great day!
HFD - the funnest idea ever. I love that it started when you were dating. I am secretly wishing I could go back and start some super cool tradition like this.
I love all the pictures. Y'all are such a fun family!!
I love it! Amy, there are so many awesome pictures in this blog. Well, all your blogs have great photos, but I just love how you captured the candid-ness and closeness of your family. Great job! When did the peace sign become Ike's favorite symbol to throw? I miss Josiah too! I love Olivia's many faces.
I agree with Shawn: I wish I could rewind the clock eight years and start some cool traditions for us too. Maybe we'll adopt your HFD?
