We are new to this "save your money for a rainy day" experience. They really mean it when they say that. We have been kinda cooped up in our house for the past couple of days and have had to come up with new things for entertainment. We are used to spending the morning outside riding bikes or playing in the backyard. We don't really have a backyard here (and the grass is prickly) and the driveway is shared with about 3 other townhomes, plus their teenage kids!! I'm big on not letting my kids watch tv (they probably watch about 30-45 minutes a day) so I sometimes have to be the entertainment. It is hard...maybe I should just turn on the tv, ha!
Here was the list of events for the first 1 1/2 hours today (not long enough!!!).
Painting on the back porch, drumstick baseball, drumstick pool, and slap jack. Someone help me with some better ideas!!! My creativity left with the moving truck!

Play in the shaving cream!! Hudson loves that, and it's pretty easy to clean up! I just squirt it all over the table and let him go. I know teachers who do the same thing with Choc. pudding--yummy. Judging by your pics, you aren't afraid of mess. Build a fort out of blankets--the best one ever. Let them use some of your empty boxes--sure that could keep them busy. I am trying to think of things where you don't have to be super involved! Make an obstacle course in the house and time them. Put them in some rubber boots and let them go play in the rain!
Where's the play-doh? The fort idea is great. The boys do that almost everyday. We've been doing a lot of games. Go fish (Nemo Addition) is there favorite. Candy land is great and those Cranium games, anyone of them are awesome. Hullabaloo is a lot of fun! I forget the other one something like being at a carnival. We taught the boys how to play dominos (Diego addition) so now they think they are real pros. I'm getting ready for the cold winter days of nothing to do outside. It's okay for an occasional movie, there won't be any real permanent damage. Plus, it's only water. They won't melt. Some of my best memories is playing in some sort of weather. You should slap a pair of rubber boots on and play with them. Enjoy their childhood. It only lasts for a minute.

How Rachel beckons the dessert luciousness that is the triple chocolate molten cake at Applebees.
"Oqaqye, come here my sweetness and fill my belly!" Hee, Hee!
I cannot believe that is your back yard. That is amazing. Be thankful for the rain, you could have a dirt field behind your house again!!! Those trees are beautiful.
I don't have any great ideas. My girls could sit and color all day long. I'm sure when karter is Josiah's age I will be asking for ideas, too.
We sure miss you guys. I hope for a few hours of sun today in your neck of the woods.
Scott has been reading to Abi out of the Little House on the Prairie books, a chapter a night. Before he left on his trip he sat down and recorded himself with the video camera reading to Abi and showing her the pictures. She has loved it---she watches over and over. When it "wears off" I will put them away to get back out this winter for a "rainy" day. Just an idea....
We haven't made a fort in a long time----thanks for the idea I think we will today!
