First Day of School

Today was the first day of home school for our family. Isaac woke up very early so I thought that we should get a head start before Josiah and Olivia wanted to be in the middle of everything. We got math done and some reading before Josiah came down the stairs. Josiah joined in the reading before we had breakfast. As soon as breakfast was over, the boys were eager to get started. So....let's just say that our first day was finished by 9:00! Josiah is having fun because he can be a lot more involved this year.
After school, I got the boys dressed (ha) and we went to the library for story time. It was great! They sing songs, tell stories, read books and do a craft. Today the theme was music. So, all the books were about music, they sang a song while they played an egg shaker, and they made a maraca to take home. The boys and Olivia had so much fun. As an added bonus, our friends were there.
This year we will go to the library on Monday, I have a Bible study on Tuesday mornings while the kids will play with their friends, the kids go with me to the YMCA on Wednesday nights while Jay is at church, and we have P.E. on Thursdays. And homeschool in between. :)

The boys hard at work.

Josiah's coloring page.

Some of Isaac's curriculum.

Josiah's book from Nana and Papa....thanks for the books!! They are a big help!

Singing the "getting the wiggles out" song.

Olivia even had a shaker...and cried when she had to give it back. :(

The buddies.

Isaac's first day of school picture. :)

And his wigglier tooth.

By the way, did anyone else get asked tough questions about the tooth fairy...like, "Why does she want the teeth?" And, "Where does she take the teeth? Finally, "What does she do with the teeth when she takes them there?"
I finally settled for, "We'll have to look that up on the computer when we get home. :)

Amy, you are a great organizer!!! I am in awe of you young Mom's who have it all together. We don't have kid's at home any more, as you know (haha),and I still don't have it together. Oh well. One of my best friends, oldest sister, was a librarian for years, and she says it was such a rewarding life, esp. the storybook times.

that librarian was really 'involved' in a 'special' way with the 'story time.'

Amy, I'm so excited that you have found some fun activities for the kids. Sounds like you are settling right in. SO do you make them call you Mrs. Wright?? HEHE!

I am impressed! It sounds like you are so organized. I am a little envious that there is so much to do in FL! Have a great week and hope the first week of school is as great as the first day!

The tooth fairy story made me laugh out loud. Your kids are so cute. I would love to hear more about your home school curriculum. How did you choose?
