Moo, Baa, Whaa

As our night was winding down and we were getting kids ready for bed, Jay remembered that a church down the street was doing a live nativity.  I loaded up the boys and we went.  I'm so glad that we did, I think that the boys will always remember it.
When we pulled up, Mrs. Joanie, Isaac's P.E. teacher, was right in front of our car.  So it was really neat to walk through the nativity with her.
We walked down a path that led us to different scenes.  We started at a market, then saw shepherds, wise men, an inn, and finally, the stable with baby Jesus.

These shepherds were explaining to us that they had seen an unusual star.

There were live animals everywhere.

The boys loved this camel.  Here the wise man is asking what kind of camel has one hump, ha!  Mrs. Joanie was curious.

The kids are all watching baby Jesus.  Before they got here, they had all "purchased" gifts to bring to baby Jesus.  Isaac gave a ring and Josiah gave a necklace.

I think that baby Jesus had to be cold!

Isaac petting a sheep (if you know Isaac, you know that this is a big deal).

This pig was so cute and wanted some food from Josiah.

Candy canes and goats...what more could a little boy ask for??

Isaac really enjoyed getting close to soldiers.  I couldn't believe that he let me take his picture with them.
After all of this fun, we went in the church and listened to a Christmas concert.  All three of us thought that it was wonderful and really reminded us of what Christmas is about.  In fact, when we were driving back home, Isaac said, "Christmas isn't about toys, it's about Jesus!!!"

That is so cool! I wonder if there is something like that around here. Ike and Ryan must have some of the same personality because it's a big deal for Ryan to touch anything living. He usually runs away screaming. We took the kids to the Christmas concert at Quail Creek tonight, and the whole time they were saying, "There's baby Jesus. He died on the cross." I guess we still have some work to do on getting them to understand that baby Jesus grew up! Isn't it so wonderful when you finally hear them saying things you've been explaining their whole lives?

That is totally cool! I wish we had something like that around here. I would love for my boys to experience something like this.

Lindsey, Isaac (or was it Josiah??) was a bit confused about Jesus dying on the cross and being born, too. I think that when he saw the Roman soldiers, it threw him off.
Ember, as sad as I was about moving in the beginning, I'm glad that we are here. And things like this make it so much fun. There are always great things to do.
Mom, :)
Nancy, I wish that we would have invited you!

That looks like so much fun! What a treat for the boys - I'm sure they'll remember that for many years. You sure wouldn't find a real baby in a live nativity in our climate!

Paige's stocking has just that - her name - I never made it past that once the craziness happened the past few weeks - oh well, maybe next year!

Mama's furnace is out so she's staying here tonight. She was so excited that "your precious boys" called her and told her about this experience!

Julie- I'm so glad that you got to go and I'm so glad you got to see us screaming and crying in the restaurant the next day. :)

Erin- Kids are the best. They make you think...sometimes they confuse you.

Mom- It's fun to listen in on their conversations.

Dawn- I'm sure! It was cold enough here for it, I think. (I'm worried that we are adjusting to the new climate. We have started wearing coats when it's 60 degrees outside. Haha)
