Jay and I decided that we needed to be adventurous tonight, to go out and find something fun to do. We had heard about a ferry that you can drive your car on and go across the river. We figured that the boys would find it thrilling. That's what we figured.
Real story: Before we made it to the dock, Olivia was already screaming because she was hungry. As we waited in line to board, a man came up to the car and asked Jay if we could "jump" his car because it wasn't starting. Jay obliged but kind of thought the guy might be a bit intoxicated. As the guy was about to leave, the cops showed up to arrest him. Ooops!
The ferry ride lasted all of 5 minutes. When we got to the other side of the river, Olivia was really letting us have it. We took off driving, figuring that we'd find some great restaurants on the other side.
That's what we figured.
Real story: There was nothing on the other side. We finally pulled over and turned around (and let the boys out to use the "bathroom") and headed back for the ferry. By the time we got there, Olivia had finally calmed down. The boys were starving and exhausted from a busy day. We stopped by a McDonald's drive-thru on the way home and chowed down in the car.
We're afraid that we wasted about 3 1/2 hours of our lives. I guess that it was an adventure.

At least you got some FUN PICTURES out of the deal! ha!
By the way....it's hard to believe the kids are in SHORTS! It's getting cold here again---supposed to be in the 20's this weekend.
Ok you crack me up!! I love the REAL story!! HA!!!! I miss you.
That was FUNNY! I think we've all had a "fun" night go not the way we thought! Don't even let me see those shorts! We are FREEZING out butts off in minus 30 up here!
Mom- True. I thought that we might as well put it in the book. ha
We have been sweating.
Kara- Miss you, too!!!
Marcy- Dear God, please don't ever move me to Canada. I think that I've prayed this prayer before...
It's not Canada that bothers me, it's the minus 30 that makes my skin crawl.
The Real Story--that really rings a bell!
Also, I can totally sympathize with Marcy. In Calgary we had a couple -40 C weeks! BRRRRRR! We have a 'plug' on our van -- which, being the wimp that I am, I had Bill plug in for me when it was 8 F here last week! I had to keep reminding myself how much better 8 F is compared to -40 C!!!!!
Yeah, I can totally relate too...we headed to a Live Nativity (base on your suggestion, I might add ;) but before we ever got there Boaz was asleep, Bronwyn was hungry and Holland was screaming. Not too mention it was so freaking cold baby Jesus was snuggled under all mom's layers breastfeeding and my totally oblivious husband was asking for a sneak peek!
