Yesterday, January 11th 2009, our three kids were baptized. What a wonderful day! I'm so proud of our kids and I'm thankful that God has trusted me to be "Mom" to each of them. I'm also excited to watch them grow both physically and spiritually, and I can hardly wait to see God's call on each of their lives.
Before the baptism, our priest talked to the boys. Isaac was excited, Josiah was nervous (and untucking his shirt), and Olivia had no idea what awaited.
If you want more details, we'd absolutely love to share what we're learning.
Here is a great book that helped me wrap my mind around baptism for infants/children. If you have always wondered (like I always have) what it is all about, then the book is a really great resource.
I'll take more pictures of the kids in their baptism clothes in the next couple of weeks. We shopped long and hard for Miss O's dress. :)

I didn't know that Ray was their godfather---how exciting! Poor Olivia---looks like she was hanging on for dear life! (And her thigh was showing--oh dear.) I have to tell you that her baptismal dress looks alot like your first Easter dress---I'll have to dig for that picture. You can tell Josiah was nervous---and Ike was figuring out how to become a priest! ha!
'twas so glad so many of us from Jay's class could be there for this special day. Your kids are adorable, your love for them and for the Lord shines through!
Congratulations! How terrific! Very pretty pictures also!
Glad we could be there; they were so sweet up there! I especially liked it when Josiah was pulling his shirt out:)
congratulations! Love the kids' faces - too cute!
Congratulations! I'm so happy you guys are enjoying Florida!
How were your holidays?
have you found out any more about homeschooling from that lady? :)
too many questions!!
Okay, well, you're kids are so precious!
You have such a beautiful family! Isaac, You look so grown up in that tie! Josiah, you look so handsome...great belt! Miss A, Miss O's dress is beautiful!
Another comment...You guys might already know, but the Catholic church celebrated the Baptism of The Lord on Jan 11th! I thought that was a neat day for you to have your kids baptized!
What a blessed day! They looked like they were ready. Dressed up in ties--how perfect. Liv's dress look adorable. Congratulations to all!!
Amy, I'm so proud of you and Jay. I cannot wait to see what God does with your kiddos. You are GREAT parents!
Side notes:
1. Olivia's dress is amazing.
2. The boys are adorable in their ties!
3. Your hair looks GREAT!
The kids look so precious and what a special day. Thanks for the book suggestion, although it might be three years before I get to read it. If you get a chance I would love to hear your perspective on the topic. Bryan and I have discussed it several times.
The kids are adorable! Like Mendi, I'd love to hear your reasoning. So, if you'd type that out in your spare time... ;-) I read the excerpt from the book, and it made some really good points. I may have to see if I can find the book here. You and Jay are doing such a great job training the kids in the "way they should go"! Great job!
I loved little Olivia's face!! She's still baptist maybe! HA! Love you!
Amy, your kid's are adorable. I loved your Mom's description of their personalities? I will have to fourth, fifth whatever it is. You hair is gorgeous! Ya'll are a very cute family. Ya'll always look so happy : )
Amy, that was very sweet, thank you.
tammy
and too funny on the other!
Tammy
Mom- Yes, and it was so fun that he was able to be there.
I need to see that Easter dress that you always tell me about. And, yes, you are right on about both boys. :)
Claire- It made the day that much more special to have so many IWS students there.
It was nice to get to meet you...even for just a brief moment. I'm glad that you read the blog and thanks for the sweet comment.
Sarah- Thank you!
Nancy- I'm glad that you all were able to make it back in time from your restful camping trip. :)
Dawn- Thank you!
Emily- Thanks. We love Florida and our holidays were wonderful. Jay's parents came and made Christmas special for us.
That lady? Drawing a blank...which is not difficult for me. haha
Katy- I'm glad that at least the belt stayed on Josiah. You know Josiah...
Sarah- Yes! Perfect day! And we did pick to have them baptized on that day for that reason. You and Jay could have some long, fun discussions over liturgy.
Jean- The boys had to wear their ties every day until the baptism. Isaac would get completely dressed up and Josiah just stuck the tie on his t-shirt. :)
I found the dress about 5 days before the baptism. *gulp*
Tamra- Thank you. You have been such an encourager to us through all of our changes.
1. Ah, I am going to post pictures with lots of detail of the dress. I LOVE it!!
2. They make me smile when they look cute and innocent.
3. Thanks! I'm not liking it so much, but it needed to be chopped off!
Mendi- It was a great day. The book is VERY short, but I know even a short book looks like a huge mountain to you right now. I'd love to write out my perspective on baptism. I told Jay that we need to write it out together and email it to those that are interested (whether they want to baptize or not).
Sandra- Thank you so much. I love you and appreciate your encouragement. And like I told Mendi, I'll put something together!
Marcy- Ha! I told Jay, "You know, after we've gone on this journey, we have to know that our kids might go on the same journey and become Baptist."
Tammy- Let me tell you, my kids ALL have such unique personalities. They crack me up.
I'm glad that I looked happy in the pictures. I mean, I WAS happy, but I was exhausted. I thought that my arms were going to fall off from holding Olivia.
