School Has Begun

Today was our first day of school. Isaac and Josiah have been so excited to get started. I've been excited, too.
When we bought this house, I decided that we would use our back patio (Florida room, as they call it here) as a home school room. Jay and I have been meaning to stain the concrete, but time has gotten away from us and it'll just have to do for right now. After the kids went to bed last night, we set up the room and the kids woke up to a fun surprise.

Olivia immediately started coloring.

Yay! Today is school!
The boys and I will work at this middle table while Olivia (or Olivia and Josiah) play in the back corner.

We dropped Olivia off at Busy Bees and they were ready for her to celebrate her birthday. She was too excited to play with toys to pose for me.

She didn't understand why her teacher was making her stand by that door and wear that hat.

By the way, he lost that tooth yesterday. What a cutie.
The boys woke up at about 1:30 this morning and found that the Tooth Fairy had left them both a surprise under their pillow. (And she had put the surprise with money in it under Josiah's pillow instead of Isaac's. Oops!) They were so excited that they didn't fall asleep until about 2:30 a.m. What a way to start off our first day of school.

Playing after school was over.

We have two squirrels that always play along our back fence. Isaac noticed one of them eating a leaf today. (The picture is blurry, but you can click on it to zoom in.) It's fun to have scenery out a school window.

It was a very nice first day. I was a little nervous about all that we have to cover each day because Isaac can get a little overwhelmed sometimes. But when I saw the overwhelmed look in his eye, I ran inside and brought some snacks out to the table. That did it.
It's going to be a great year!!

Olivia Is Two

Today we celebrated the second birthday of Olivia "Princess" Wright. We had such a fun day as a family and enjoyed singing "Happy Birthday" about 20 times to our favorite little girl.

For a mom, can it get any better than this?

I like this, too.

She really likes musical cards.

Cheesecake Factory lunch...in her tutu. She tried to also wear her apron in, but we talked her into leaving it in the car. It was about 99 degrees today.

She didn't understand why she couldn't just start eating with the candle burning. She could care less about the candle...just wanted the food!

Olivia Anne, you have brought so much joy into my life. I can't imagine being a mommy without you. You are such a bright spot in our family and really live up to the meaning of your name, "Peaceful One". You are busy, loud, and sometimes cranky, but you bring peace into our home in so many ways.
I have loved watching you turn into a little girl and develop such a great personality. You rarely meet a stranger and always have a "hello" for anyone you meet. It's so fun to see how you make people smile just by the way you walk or grin your adorable grin.
Your brothers absolutely adore you. They would do anything for you, even give you their food. You hold them in the palm of your hand and all three of you like it that way. :)
I love how you reach for me and sometimes stick out your sweet, chubby arms towards your daddy. He likes it, too. I love how you lay your head on my shoulder when I pick you up. I love the way you say "shoes", "more", "two", "Bubba", "shew shew", "chair", "fish", "drink", "please", "thank you", "you're welcome"...in your cute little way.
You make me such a happy momma. I love you more than you'll ever know. You are my sugar bear. "My Momma". Happy 2nd Birthday, Baby Girl.

A Little More Progress

Maybe it'll happen tonight. My guess is that Isaac waits until it's time to be in bed and comes bursting out of his room saying, "I think my tooth is about to come out!" That's what he usually does. That's what he did last night. He got about 30 minutes out of us before he had to go back to his room. I think it's the whole reason he likes to loose teeth...getting to stay up later.

Better luck next time, kid.

Are You Ready For Some Football?!

The Wright family is.

I couldn't get Isaac to look at me because he was glued to a preseason game. And Olivia, well, she just didn't know which way she was looking.

Cheese dip, hot wings, root beer, and burgers are dancing in their heads.

Wiggle Wiggle Wiggle

It's so close.

Josiah...the tooth pulling instructor says,
"Just twist it! Twist it and it will come out."

"Let me see."

"I remember when I lost my first tooth. Ahh. Hmm. I was such a youngster."

"Hey! Remember when we wrestled and I knocked your tooth out last time? Yeah? Let's do it again!"

*Smack*
"Ow! No!"

Is it any closer?

"Here's another idea. Just blow like this and it will come out."

--Oh Mother, what are we to do with the child?--

--Maybe if I hit it myself--

To Be Continued...
