Mama Mia

If I knew how to sing an Italian song, I would. Oh wait!! When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that's amore!

The Pioneer Woman has opened a whole new world to me. (Thanks for the introduction, Emily.) I used to be so afraid to try new recipes. But on PW's website, she gives step-by-step pictures and instructions for all of her recipes. Granted, most of her recipes are very unhealthy, but it still helps me. So tonight I tried out some homemade pasta. Simple. Easy. Good.
Of course, I know that I didn't cut the pasta thin enough, but I'm still proud. :)

Well done Miss Happy Homemaker!! It looks delicious and you even had time to take pictures. (It must be that Isaac is helping you out again and taking all the really hard chores off your hands and now you are making your own pasta in all your spare time! hehe) Looks really good...do you ever make spahetti carbanara? (I wonder if that is how you spell it?)

That looks like fun...maybe I'll try that next. Did you use regular flour or do you have to buy a special flour? Katy, I love pasts cabanara, we call it breakfast pasta at our house, although we never eat it for breakfast...

I told Jay that your Great-Grandmother Dietz made homemade noodles every day of her life. I watched her make it once---she was amazing with it! Yours look delicious. Were they good? Will you do it again? I'll probably stick to Rheam's noodles, unless you're here visiting! (I love Katy's assumption of Ike helping out!)

Wow - that looks really professional! Sorry I haven't been catching up with you guys; for some reason it wasn't updating your title on my blog so I didn't think you were posting - ugh!

Amy!! I so read the noodle post on PW's site and printed it off. I was going to attempt it, but haven't had the time. Seeing yours turn out so well has motivated me to find that paper and try it. What herbs did you use? Yours looks WONDERFUL! (Oh! And I love your step by step pictures! You could be Pioneer Woman - Florida Edition...? LOL! I think you should do more recipes, though...for reals!)

Kallie- I think it just takes time to build up all those recipes. Maybe when I'm 75 I'll feel like I can cook. :)

Katy- Haha! Isaac really does take a load off.
I LOVE pasta carbonara. But ever since one of our friends called it "heart attack on a plate", I decided that maybe we shouldn't love it quite so much. Why do people have to go and ruin such a good thing? :)

Jean- They were decent. ha

Sarah- I just used regular ol' flour.

Mom- Now I know two things about my GG Dietz...she used a magnifying glass, and she made great pasta. :) I need to learn more about her.
Yes, I'd make it again, but I'd definitely cut the noodles much thiner and not cook it so long.

Dawn- I know, I forget to look at all of the private blogs.

Kayla- I didn't have all of the ingredients for the sauce that was on her site, so I just used butter, garlic and oregano. It was about 9:30 at night. But I saw how easy it was and just couldn't resist giving it a try. As for posting more recipes...hmmm...I could do a "How Not to Cook" site. That could be a big money maker! :)
