Welcome Aboard!

This morning, we loaded up the car and drove to Jacksonville so that we could take a tour of a naval ship. It was a neat opportunity and we thought that it was well worth the drive/wait. They didn't expect such a great turn-out, so the line was long but everyone had a great attitude about it.

Our van is having the brakes worked on, so we all loaded up in Jay's car. The kids thought it was an adventure. :)

Here we are waiting in line. It was a gorgeous day, perfect for a ship tour...why not??

This is the U.S.S. Stephen W. Groves (FFG 29). It's the smallest ship in the navy. It is a member of the class of Guided Missile Frigates. However, they removed her guided missile system and the Stephen W. Groves has shifted roles and now primarily conducts Enhanced-Maritime Interception Operations and Counter Narco-Terrorism operations. They boys were very excited that two helicopters can fit on the ship. They were also excited that they got to ring the bell.

Here is the clan on the front of the ship. The big thing sticking out of the floor is the chain that goes to the anchor. It was all very interesting and something that I hope the boys don't forget.

What did you do? Get a brochure so you could give us all this information? ha! If not, I'm very impressed that you remembered all the info. Jay, LOVE the diaper bag---very nice accessorizing. Looks like fun---fun the boys must have loved! I LOVE the picture of the 3 kids lined up in their car seats.

Looks like fun! I really like the picture of you with the kids. I have always thought Olivia looked a lot like Josiah and it really shows in that picture.

Enjoying the journey... said...
